PLA - President Letter
The Prior Lake Association has not been idle while the lake was frozen. We sponsored a hole in the Ice Golf outing at Captain Jacks, including of coarse, a fishing boat, an inner tube and many other lake activity props. We also had a great time judging the Ice House contest which presented some tough choices, and the Photo contest with many excellent photos submitted.
Now we are about to begin another summer of activities on and around the lake. Some of these activities will be for the fun and enjoyment of the lake, others will be to help protect and improve the lake and its ecosystem, while still others will be to improve safety on and around the lake. As we plan these activities we will be working with many of the local agencies that govern the lake and surrounding areas. We have already had discussion with the Prior lake Spring Lake Watershed District about a couple of the volunteer efforts including water quality monitoring and Carp habitation studies.
Even with all these activities we are still looking for new ideas to improve the quality of the lake and the experiences of those that use the lake. If you have any ideas or thoughts about improving the lake quality, making it safer or just a fun activity, Please contact one of the board members and let us know. Even better yet, come to one of the board meetings, meet the board members and let us know what you are thinking. The more individuals that contribute to our association the better it will be at representing the desires of the entire community.
I would like to stress that the Prior Lake Association is not just for lake shore owners. It if for everyone that uses or enjoys the lake and wants to help maintain and improve the quality of the entire lake experience. We have members that do not even live in Prior Lake but use the lake from time to time and wish help make it an even better place to come and spend a hot summer afternoon.
Throughout this news letter are articles about the upcoming events we have planned for this summer and a schedule of activities. I hope you will find some of these interesting and make plans to come out and enjoy the fun. Also, don't forget to look for the Lake Smarts articles in the Prior Lake American with timely tidbits of information about the lake and enjoying it safely.
Again, if you have any ideas, suggestions, would like to get involved or just stop in and see what is going on with the association, please feel free to contact one of the board members or just stop in at one of the monthly board meetings. A detailed schedule along with more information on the association’s activities, past and present, can be found on this association web site.
With that I would like to wish everyone a summer filled with safe, fun and memorable experiences. We will do our best to help contribute those good times!
Tom Stephenson, PLA President
