The Boat Safety Clinic is designed for youth ages 12 -17 who want to learn safe boating and personal watercraft (PWC) skills. The instructor will discuss safe handling skills, new boating and watercraft ordinances for Prior Lake, navigation procedures and aids, terminology and required operator permits/licenses.
Students will complete a DNR workbook that follows along with class instruction. Demonstrations of techniques and equipment used by the Sheriff’s Department and the DNR for water safety enforcement will be shown in class. Students will be tested and will be notified of their test results, along with licensing information, by the DNR.
This event is co-sponsored by the Prior Lake-Savage Community Education Services, the Prior Lake Association and the Sheriff’s Department. Pre-registration is required and can be found here. The clinic costs $15.00 per student and a pizza lunch is included.
